Understand What May Be Happening Before Deciding What to Do Next

Speech Language Pathologist, neuroaffirming parent coaching to help you better understand your child's communication, language, comprehension, social understanding, and make more informed decisions about how to support them.

Speech-Language Pathologist - ASHA Certified - Autism Clinical Specialist Parent Coach

I’m Kristian, a speech-language pathologist with 20 years of experience supporting children and families with communication, language, comprehension, and social understanding.

Over the years, I’ve learned that families don’t always need another strategy handed to them. Sometimes they need help slowing a situation down, understanding what might be contributing to it, and deciding what information would be useful to notice next.

That’s what I bring to parent coaching: the perspective of an experienced SLP combined with a coaching approach that helps you reflect, ask questions, and make thoughtful decisions about your child’s communication and connection.

My work is neuroaffirming, curiosity-driven, and grounded in respect for each child’s individual way of communicating, learning, and experiencing the world.

Understand More Than What to Do. Understand Why

When something isn’t working, it’s easy to start searching for another strategy. But before deciding what to try next, it can help to look more closely at what’s happening.

Parent coaching gives us space to slow down together. We can look at what you’re noticing, consider the communication, language, comprehension, or interaction demands that may be part of the situation, and explore supports that make sense for your family.

The goal isn’t for you to leave with another list of things to do. It’s to help you better understand the reasoning behind a support, notice how your child responds, and feel more confident deciding what might be useful next.

Look Closer

When a child responds in an unexpected way, it can be tempting to immediately decide what the response means or what needs to change.

At Social Scribe, we start with curiosity.

Understand the Why

Explore how communication, language, comprehension, context, and perspective may be contributing to a situation.

Learn how to try supports thoughtfully, notice your child’s response, and use that information to decide what to do next.

Build Your Confidence

Why Coaching?

Bring The Questions You're Already Wondering About

Parent coaching focuses on supporting you as the parent. Direct speech-language assessment or intervention with a child is provided separately as an SLP service.

Maybe your child answers “I don’t know” when you thought they understood.

Maybe conversations, stories, or everyday interactions seem harder than you expected.

Or maybe you’ve tried different ways of helping and you’re no longer sure what information would be useful to pay attention to.

Parent coaching starts with a question or situation that’s meaningful to you. Together, we’ll slow it down, look at what you’re noticing, and consider communication, language, comprehension, context, and perspective as we explore what might be useful to try next.

You’ll leave with more than a strategy. You’ll have a clearer understanding of what you’re looking for, why a support may be worth trying, and what your child’s response can help you notice next.
